For almost a whole year, my kiddo talked about wanting to make jewelry. Honestly, I thought we were passed the friendship bracelet phase. For Christmas, I decided I would get her good and set up for what was hopefully going to be her new life’s love. Boy was I wrong, but as it turns out, I really enjoy making jewelry. Studying the various wire wrapping techniques has definitely been enjoyable. After a stressful day of work, I can come home directing my frustrations into my jewelry, aka showing the wire who the boss is, lol.
Just like with my painting skill set, I searched all of YouTube looking for tutorials. There are so many resources available for people who have the self motivation to teach themselves. Jewel School and Jewellers Academy have been amazing resources in my journey. Creating any form of jewelry allows me to develop and create a unique personality for the individual pieces from the beginning.
The first thing I truly wanted to make was a ring and I had no cute stones. I finally found one of the smallest beads I could from my daughter’s Christmas supply. It was loose and spinny but a very needed lesson. It was a hot mess! My friend wanted to keep it so badly. My humiliation created her an equally unsatisfyingly yet more sturdy ring. However, I knew that I just had to keep going and that with practice and dedication I would get better.
As I develop more and more pieces each week, I will be putting them up for sale. You will be able to see the different levels of my development through the years. (Insert Link Here)
